Xinzhu's Chairman Jiang Focuses on Performance with Hands-On Management
2016-02-01
Jiang Wen-rong, who was promoted from General Manager to Chairman of Xinzhu Global last year, emphasizes the group’s commitment to systematic and progressive internal talent development. As responsibilities grow with the increasing significance of the tasks entrusted to him, Jiang acknowledges that the burden of responsibility also increases.
Though his perspective as Chairman differs in scope and height, Jiang's approach remains focused on closely monitoring performance.
Having served at YC Group for 24 years, Jiang began his career in the packaging materials department as a frontline sales representative. His background in sales has given him a thorough understanding of departmental operations, leading his colleagues to describe him as famously strict. When sales reports are presented, he insists on thorough reviews without tolerance for any slack.
Jiang personally leads monthly business review meetings, scrutinizing performance and customer follow-up in detail. Sometimes, he conducts these meetings via video conference, requiring regional managers from Mainland China to join. This practice not only provides a comprehensive view of both sides’ performance but also fosters a competitive spirit between the two regions, motivating employees.
However, Jiang does not spend all his time in the office. Once meetings and administrative tasks are complete, he hits the road to visit various locations. His hands-on management style allows him to grasp frontline conditions effectively.
Jiang also travels to Mainland China at least once a month for meetings with regional managers to review project plans.
Regarding his new role as Chairman, Jiang does not feel an increased sense of pressure. Instead, he views his daily tasks as consistent with his previous responsibilities and approaches them with a positive attitude.
To balance the extended working hours and maintain physical and mental well-being, Jiang manages stress by running in the early mornings, from 5 or 6 a.m. for 40 minutes to an hour. Running not only enhances his health but also provides the stamina needed to keep a close eye on performance.
