2015-11-05
(Central News Agency Reporter Wei Shu, Taipei, November 4, 2015) Taiwan’s leading tape manufacturer, YC Group, held a ceremony today to mark the completion of its new headquarters building and the celebration of its corporate anniversary. Vice President Wu Den-yih and prominent figures from the financial sector attended the event. Group Chairman Li Zhixian stated that the period from 2016 to 2020 will be a crucial five years for the group, as it prunes and re-sows for future growth.
Li Zhixian noted that the overcapacity of various plastic products in China, coupled with low oil prices and economic downturns, has prompted the group to reflect on its competitiveness. As a result, YC Group has designated the five years from 2016 to 2020 as a critical period for pruning and replanting, with the expectation of stronger growth in the future.
Since its establishment, YC (4306) has been in operation for 38 years, Achem (1715) for 55 years, and Shin Kong Global (3171) for 25 years, demonstrating a century of business wisdom and experience. The new building in Neihu Redevelopment Zone will consolidate the group's previously scattered offices into one location, enhancing communication and efficiency.
Achem Chairman Lin You-sheng mentioned that Achem currently holds the world’s largest capacity for OPP (ortho-phenylphenol) packaging materials and the second largest for PVC (polyvinyl chloride). The company will actively integrate and enhance its R&D and sales capabilities, accelerating the development of new product lines. It is estimated that new products will account for 10% to 15% of future revenue. In terms of production capacity, OPP tape is expected to reach an annual capacity of 2.87 billion square meters, and PVC tape 270 million square meters. The company aims to offer the most competitive products and services, striving to build a global tape empire.
Shin Kong Global Chairman Jiang Wen-rong stated that after changing its strategic layout in China, the company’s overall performance has significantly improved. In the future, the packaging materials division will focus on meeting the tourism packaging needs of the central, southern, and eastern regions of Taiwan. The cloud information business will target the food, chemical, and pharmaceutical sectors for information platform industry alliances. Meanwhile, in China, “Packmaster” is actively setting up service points in economic development zones in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Liaoning, Henan, Sichuan, Guangdong, and Fujian. Over the next five years, the company's revenue is expected to grow exponentially.
YC Group stated that the new building is located on Xingshan Road in Neihu Redevelopment Zone. The process from land purchase, planning, groundbreaking, construction, topping out, to completion took seven years. The building has nine floors, and in the future, the 1st, 2nd, and 5th floors will be available for rent. The total cost of land and construction was over NT$1.5 billion, but the current market value is estimated at around NT$4 billion.
