YC (4306) announced today (29th) that its consolidated profits for the first half of the year have been released, with pre-tax earnings per share (EPS) reaching NT$2.14 due to simultaneous growth in both core and non-core profits. The rebound in crude oil prices in the second quarter has driven up prices in the plastic industry, leading to better performance in YC's core business compared to the previous quarter. In terms of non-core income, the company recognized NT$40 million from the sale of land and revenue from the "City of the Coast" project, along with profits from Ningbo Yashuo.
YC stated that in its plastic core business, it has begun the implementation of an additional film production line in Ningbo, China, this year, and plans to add another line in Taiwan next year, with contributions expected in 2010 and 2011. Starting next year, the group’s consolidated revenue is projected to reach NT$10 billion. It is estimated that once the two production lines are completed, YC's film output will rank among the top ten globally, making it the largest vertically integrated packaging materials manufacturer in the world.
In the construction industry, YC expects its subsidiary, Wangzhou Construction, to launch a project on a 1,838 ping (approximately 6,078 square meters) plot of land in Neihu next year, resulting in significant asset appreciation. Analysts estimate that with the current price of NT$500,000 per ping, total sales could reach NT$3.75 billion, which could become a significant source of profits for YC in the future.
YC plans to distribute stock dividends on August 12.
