After acquiring ACHEM (1715) at the end of October last year, tape manufacturing giant YC (4306) plans to expand with two new BOPP film production lines this year. This expansion is expected to increase consolidated revenue by NT$8.1 billion, aiming to reach NT$15 billion, positioning YC to become the world’s largest tape manufacturer.
YC Group Chairman Lee Chih-Hsien stated that two new production lines for BOPP film, a raw material used in tape manufacturing, will be added this year in both Taiwan and mainland China, with production expected to begin in June. Once operational, the company's production capacity will increase from 100,000 tons per year to 172,000 tons, second only to Nan Ya Plastics of the Formosa Plastics Group.
With the integration of ACHEM, YC’s production capacity for OPP packaging tape will reach 180 to 200 million square meters per month, making it the world's largest producer.
Lee Chih-Hsien noted that this year marks the beginning of YC's development following its merger with ACHEM. YC will become a holding company, with the tape business unit led by ACHEM for global expansion, while the film business unit will be led by Ningbo Yashuo Technology in China.
To expand its global tape distribution network, Lee revealed plans to establish tape processing plants and distribution centers in emerging markets such as India, Russia, Mexico, and Brazil. The goal is to become the largest in the world within 3 to 5 years.
Last year, YC's revenue was NT$6.9 billion, while ACHEM's revenue was NT$7.9 billion. After the merger, Lee stated that YC Group's consolidated revenue is expected to reach NT$15 billion this year, and ACHEM's shareholders’ equity "will certainly be better than last year.
